With an epic opening from the award winning songstress Adina Thembi and the CCTV hitmaker King Promise, the ground was open and set for the 2018 Miss Universe Ghana pageant.
With lots of personalities thronging the Omanye Hall at the Labadi Beach Hotel yesterday, there couldn’t have been a perfect start without a glamourous red carpet session.
For a fact, what started weeks ago as a competition not only for beauty but also for beautiful yet intelligent and confident young ladies came to a beautiful closure with the very hardworking Akpene Diata Hoggar emerging as winner for the 2018 Miss Universe Ghana pageant followed by Vanessa Naa Tekor Akuetteh and Sylvia Naa Commodore coming up as first and 2nd runner-ups respectively.
Out of the Top 10 ladies who made it to the finals, the final four contestants keenly contested for the car, cash and crown.
The event which took place at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on the 15th of September 2018 saw 100s of people troop in to support and cheer loved ones.
From Tic Tac’s Philomina kpitingeh, Odo esisi mi etc, the grand master DJ Aryee Tagoe treated patrons to great tunes from the oldies and for certain, one was up for a spectacle as far as Miss Universe Ghana 2018 was concerned.
The star studded event saw notable personalities like former minister of Gender, Nana Oye Lithur, Sulley Muntari, celebrated broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, Akuma Mama Zimbi, Sandra Ankobiah, Actress Yvonne Okoro and sister Roseline Okoro, Actress Nikki Samonas, Selly Galley, Zynell Zuh and the ever popular Rosemond Brown etc grace the event once again in style.
The judges for the night who were made of Shawn Guy, Shirley Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Kojo Mensah Jones, former Miss Universe beauty Queen Manuela Osk and Actress Yvonne Nelson, not only did they have a task to deliver but also a brand to protect and forsooth, they delivered beyond expectations.
Headed by the country director, Mrs Menaye Donkor Muntari, Miss Universe Ghana is arguably one of Ghana’s most prestigious beauty pageants, currently in its 26th year.
The Miss Universe pageant aims at empowering young women and breaking barriers in the man’s world.
The Maltz promotions this year once again gave Pageantry in Ghana another world class face-lift with an international touch and if what happened yesterday was anything to go by, then Miss Universe Ghana 2018 was a complete success.
The top five winners will benefit from a six-month internship programme with the Multimedia Group to learn at first-hand the operations of the company, as well as the elements of good media practice.
In addition to the above incentives, the ultimate winner will receive a brand new car, one-year contract with the Lab Modeling Agency in Milan, Italy; one-year contract as the Face of ‘So aesthetic’, one-year supply of GTP (Woodin) Fabrics, makeup products for one year, GH¢10,000 worth of Shoes from Shoe Zone and one- year hair services and spa treatments by First Choice Beauty Salon. Miss Universe Ghana 2018 also gets the exclusive ticket to represent Ghana at this year’s international pageant to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in December.
Besides the training programmes With Yali, the first and second runners-up will each receive six months supply of GTP (Woodin) fabrics plus ‘So Aesthetics’ makeup products.
