Riley noted passionately on her official Instagram page “I never thought that by the end of 2019 I would have visited West Africa 3 times but the moment I first touched down in March last year, I knew something in me shifted”. She continued to tell her story of how she felt about her time here, her deeper connection to this continent of Africa and a better understanding of who she’s.
“As a descendant to Jamaican parents, there’s only so far I can go in my family tree, but coming to Ghana and Nigeria gave me that much more insight into where we may have come from. There are so many similarities between Jamaica and the two countries so maybe that’s why it feels familiar, common and comfortable for me to be here”. She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the people of Ghana and Nigeria for welcoming her with open arms. “I’m forever grateful and forever changed”, she said.
