The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Rt. Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu presented the 2021 Budget Statement to the august house of Parliament on Friday, 12 March 2021 in place of the Minister of Finance, Ken Of Ofori Atta, who’s currently travelled outside the country.
This was done on authority of His Excellency the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and in accordance with article 179 and 180 of the 1992 constitution. The budget statement captured the economic policies that are specifically earmarked for the year, gave us the right picture of the state of the economy, and recovery plans made to withstand the shocks of the global pandemic and place Ghana on the confident path of sustained economic transformation.
The budget promised to pursue a GH C 100 billion GhanaCARES (Obaatan pa) programme, which according to the (caretaker) minister is the boldest and the biggest economic recovery programme in history. This is expected to enable Ghana to turn the challenges created by COVID-19 into opportunities for socio-economic transformation. See the images below!
