President Akufo-Addo First to Receive a Dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine

The Presidential Advisor on Health, Anthony Nsiah Asare has said on authority that, our very own President Akufo-Addo will be first, to recieve a dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, which arrived in the country on Wednesday, 24th February 2021 through the COVAX Facility. He emphasized the need to vaccinate the president first “is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccines are safe.” Obviously this will be done by Monday, 1st March 2021, after which the mass vaccination will follow through.

Nsiah-Asare dispelled doubts and suspicions among Ghanaians regarding the vaccination and urged everyone to take advantage of the vaccination exercise and eventually defeat the virus. “We encourage everyone to avail him or herself of the opportunity to be vacinated. It is safe and we want other Ghanaians abroad to also put out their videos and encourage others in Ghana.” He made it clear that “other reactions like headache, dizziness, and pain are all usual with every vaccination,” so that shouldn’t be specific reasons why many will exempt themselves from being vaccinated.

Unless of course we have 70% of the population vaccinated, before we can be certain and gradually fade away the intensity of the protocols, even after vaccination; everybody is advised to take a cautious step and observe all the measures accordingly. Ghana now has 82,586 active cases, 76,573 recoveries and 594 deaths.
