On Sunday, 24th May 2020, the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo joined the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; the Second Lady, H.E Hajia Samira Bawumia; the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and other Muslim leaders to mark Eid ur-Fitr in a virtual ceremony held in the studios of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
Muslims have had to fast without the traditional iftar, tafsir, tarawih, and tahajjud prayers (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). “This has been a very difficult sacrifice to make, since these activities, in the consciousness of all Muslims cloak the month of Ramadan in sanctity and holiness,” said clearly by the President, Nana Akufo Addo.
He concluded, “I salute you for these sacrifices that you have made for our collective good. More importantly, you have made these sacrifices; specifically, to save human lives”. See the images below!
