Kanye West did not attend the 2017 Grammy Award show at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, even though his close friend Malik Yusef was there as a representative to the rapper. Many were a bit disappointed West did not show up.
In an interview with PopSugar on the red carpet of the Grammys, Yusef revealed the real condition of the rapper attributing it to memory loss which he said West was gradually recovering from and is doing very well now.
“I’ve been to his house. Sat down with him for about six, seven hours. Just walking through his health and recovery,” the producer said. “His memory’s coming back. Yeah, his memory’s coming back, which is super good.”
Yusef has had a long time working relationship with West, he worked with him on ‘The Life of Pablo” album which was nominated for the Grammys.
Giving further update on West’s condition, he added; “not working” currently, and is instead focused on getting healthy.
“Just healing. Spending time with his family,” Yusef said. “Saint [West, his son] is getting big and he’s walking and playing with toys so, you know, that invigorates him.”
West spent about a week on a hospital bed after he reportedly suffered from ‘Temporary Psychosis’ which was caused by lack of excessive sleep.
