Thomas Partey Wins Big at the Maiden edition of Ghana Football Awards.

Call it a star studded event as high profile personalities within the sports discipline gathered to celebrate and reward deserving and outstanding people who have contributed and shown immense support to football in Ghana.

With Adina and the ark band bringing patrons with some nostalgic “Jama” opening, it set the tone for an epic evening as far as the Ghana Football awards was concerned.

The event which took place in Accra at the Marriott hotel honoured some well deserved players and personalities within the sporting fraternity with Thomas Teye Partey taking home the cash prize and the biggest award on the night, Ghana Footballer of the year award at the maiden edition of the ceremony.

Thomas Partey took home two awards on the night, foreign based player of the year and the coveted prize for the evening.

The event which was the first of its kind was organised by AE Media in partnership with Kwese Free Sports and sponsored by Nasco and Dusk Capital was aimed at honoring outstanding players in the Ghana Football fraternity who have played key roles in putting football in Ghana on the map.

The night which was not spared with high profile personalities from both the sports, movie, broadcasting, modeling and music industry saw personalities like the Legendary Azumah Nelson, Stephen Appiah, John Pinstil, Adwoa Bayor, international model Belinda Baidoo, Actor Prince David Osei, Adjetey Annan and a chuck of equally important people who graced the occasion.

Organisers of this noble awards assured Ghanaians the Ghana Football awards has come to stay and like the Ballon D’or started years ago, so has the Ghana Football Awards come to stay to celebrate living Legends.

Goal keeper of the year – Joseph Addo

Most Deserving Team of the year – Aduana Stars

Future Star Award – Majeed Ashimeru

Foreign Based Player of the year – Thomas Partey

Goal of the year – Joseph Mensah

Women’s footballer of the year – Priscilla Adobea

Honorary Awards- Anthony Baffoe

Home based player – Thomas Abbey

Coach of the year- Yusif Abubakarr

Thumbs up Special Award – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana Footballer of the year- Thomas Teye Partey
