Vice President Samia Suluhu Sworn in as President of Tanzania After President Joseph Magufuli Dies

The Vice President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as President after the death of the President, His Excellency John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, aged 61. The Tanzania’s first female president became vice president since 2015, and recently won the Tanzania’s elections with President Joseph Magufuli to continue their second term in office. She’ll now serve the remaining term left by the President, who died as a sitting president, amid Covid rumors.

According to the Tanzania’s constitution, the vice president swears in and continue the remaining 5-year term after confirming the death of the President, within 24 hours.

Her Excellency, Samia Suluhu Hassan was born on 27th January 1960, she comes from the semi-autonomous region of Zanziba who are about 99% Muslims. She studied Statistics at Zanziba Institute of Financial Administration and later graduated from Mzumbe University in 1986 with Advanced Diploma in Public Administration. She also attended the University of Manchester, where she received postgraduate diploma in Economics in 1994. See the images below!
